I am a journalist, writer, blogger and communications specialist with a career in broadcast news and press relations. I am also a mum of three spritely children and a Grade 8 musician.
My blog project: A Fine People http://afinepeople.co.uk
A collection of human interest stories about people whose job, hobby or passion benefits others. People with a Purpose. I’m based in the city of Norwich which is known as a ‘fine city.’ I interview my subject, write and edit a post each week, usually on a Friday. You can see all the posts on my home page. This is a personal project and there are no affiliations.
Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of speaking to many different people from all walks of life. Sometimes I could talk to them for hours but usually I had just 30 minutes to turn it into a sparkling piece of broadcast news to be edited down further into a 20 second clip. That’s the nature of news.
I enjoy talking to people, learning from them and telling their stories, celebrating achievements and raising awareness. When choosing what to write about for my blog, I realised I could use this platform to tell other people’s stories, or case studies, in my own time and in my own way.
I believe that personal stories are emotive, they can enlighten, give confidence, inform and entertain. It’s good to learn from others.
My aim is to give a voice to those who I think should be heard, to champion people who need it and to raise awareness of the good things people are doing here.
I would also like to encourage debate and provide positive content on social media.
I hope you enjoy reading my first collection of stories about A Fine People.
